While I am excited to see Fantastic
Four, the next big film on my list is Tim Burton's take
on Charlie and
the Chocolate Factory. After a teaser trailer that annoyed,
a Depp that looks like a pedaphile with jaundice, and a theme song that
sticks in my head, I still feel that this film is going to be one of the
best of the summer. And now I have at least one more movie review to prove
it.
Early Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Review
The latest review for Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory just got sent in to AICN
after an early screening. The writer enjoyed the film, but claims that the
worst element was the Oompa-Loompas. Worst element in a Wonka film is Oompa-Loompas?
What is going on here? Actually, it was the musical numbers provided by
the Oompa-Loompas that was so troubling, not the little characters themselves.
Here is a snippet from the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory review
below:
As predictable, Tim Burton's visual style is here in full force, the sets are bizarre and sometimes surreal, and they're just as beautiful as either of those.
The acting performances surprised me as well, Johnny Depp came off at the beginning as a Michael Jackson spin-off in a pimp coat, and that was all, but as this film progresses, you truly feel connected to Wonka, nothing you really achieve with Gene Wilder's version of the character.
