Goblet of Fire more popular than Revenge of the Sith
People always claim that the biggest film nuts
out there are Star Wars fans. While I used to completely agree
with this belief, the release of Lord of the Rings and the Harry
Potter films have caused my ideas to shift. Sure, Star Wars
fans can get a little nutty, but they are nothing compared to Harry
Potter fans; and now we have the stats to prove it.
Potter Removes Sith as Number One
First off, the number of subscribers we have for
Harry Potter and
the Goblet of Fire updates is exponentially higher than
those that we have for Star
Wars Revenge of the Sith updates. Yes, I know that Sith
has already come to theatres, but Goblet already had more subscribers
before the Sith premiere as well. What is going on here? Has the
film hype finally released Star Wars from its grasp and moved on
to other films namely Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire? It would
seem so!
To be honest, I thought it would be Superman
Returns to hit the number one most opened movie page here
at CanMag.Com after Revenge of the Sith. But, thanks in half to
a new book coming out within the week, Harry Potter and the Goblet of
Fire has quickly jumped to the number one spot at CanMag.Com this weekend
with its movie page being opened 96,152 times [and growing]. This is compared
to 94,742 times for Star Wars Revenge of the Sith. The race is
close but Goblet should continue to grow at an accelerated rate
over Sith.
Now, I used to be part of that group that called
Potter fans 'nerds' and such, but having finally read the series
I do have to admit that I understand where this type of hype and fandom
comes from. JK Rowling knows how to create a magnificent story that is able
to draw a reader of any age into the characters, plot, and magic. And, with
these films being some of the best book - to - film adaptations out there,
the Potter story can draw even more consumers to the theatres and
bookstores.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince comes to bookstores on July
16th. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will come to theatres
on November 18th.
