Danny Elfman
Danny Elfman is quickly becoming the top pick for
music composer for film and television. Elfman, who was once known for the
dark tones in his music, has adapted his ability to just about any project.
With a portfolio that includes Batman, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare
Before Christmas, Mission: Impossible, Men in Black, Sleepy Hollow, Spider-Man,
Big Fish, and the hit comedy show Desperate Housewives, this guy has quickly
become a top resource to have for top film projects. However, Elfman reports
that he will be leaving the highest anticipated film of 2007-- Spider-Man
3.
Elfman Still Likes Spiders
In a recent video interview with IESB,
Danny Elfman states that he will not be involved with the score of Spider-Man
3, and will instead shift his talents over to another spider film titled
Charlotte's Web. If we have learned anything from the cheap music
of Fantastic Four, movie music can kill or save a film. Not to exaggerate
the importance of Elfman, but his music was a big contributor to the Spider-Man
films, and can honestly say that the loss of the composer is a definite
ding against Spider-Man 3.
When asked whom Elfman thought would be doing the
score for Spider-Man 3 in his absence, the composer responded that
he just didn't care. Is it possible that Elfman left the Spider-Man
production team on a bad note? Well, he doesn't say, but don't be surprised
if later reports dive a little deeper into his leaving.
