CollegeHumor.Com
I have always had a lot of love for the entertainment
site CollegeHumor.Com.
Created by guys who are approximately my age [~23], the site had 280M pages
opened last month. What does this mean? It means that not only is CollegeHumor
one of the most visited sites in the world, but these young guys are making
more money than Gandhi. I know, horrible example, but I couldn't really
think of anybody.
CollegeHumor is so popular that Paramount has decided to call the site the
official voice for college living. In a move that had me in jealous awe,
Paramount has decided to team up with CollegeHumor.Com to create the next
line of Animal House style films.
Paramount and CollegeHumor
In a report put out by Variety,
Paramount and CollegeHumor.Com, a site controlled by college grads such
as Josh Abramson and Rick Van Veen, have agreed to pair up to create the
next generation of college based films. Considering that CollegeHumor.Com
is filled with college stories, college pics, and just about everything
else cool on campus, they have quickly become the number one college resource.
When asked about the agreement, Rick Van Veen jokingly stated, "This
deal is just a scam to get our names listed on IMDb. What better person
to get into the movie business with than the guy who brought together the
National Lampoon with 'Animal House'?"
I contacted Josh Abramson about the recent deal
between his site and Paramount and he responded by stating that he was happy
about the step into film and then when on to point out that CollegeHumor
had 280 million pages opened last month [show off!]. Nah, nothing but love
for these guys and a CONGRATS from CanMag.Com.
To check out the whole scoop, head over to Variety.
Stay tuned for updates.
