In a conversation with Orlando Bloom a while back,
Bloom mentioned that they have created some characters that will out-due
the skeletons from the original Pirates. Bill Nighy followed up
this information by stating that his character Davey Jones will be a squid
like person who is so computer generated that we won't know that it is him
under there until the credits. So what kind of character(s) should we be
expecting here? Well, thanks to the teaser poster sent over below, we can
now get an idea on the direction Gore Verbinski and Jerry Bruckheimer are
going.
Pirates of the Caribbean 2- Davey Jones
Just in case you have been living underneath a
rock, the title of the next Pirates film is Pirates
of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. While most were contemplating
who this dead man could be, it seems that the answer lies in this latest
pic-- Davey Jones. I don't know if I am happy or bummed about all the CGI
for Jones, as I love Bill Nighy, who is playing the character, and I think
the guy would have made a wonderful pirate without all the squid-like cover-up.
If Nighy pulled a character similar to his Love Actually rockstar
persona, the guy would have competed directly with Depp in filling the movie
with easy laughs. But I guess I can't really complain, as it was this same
crew that got the CGI skeleton to fit Geoffrey Rush perfectly.
The picture to the right was sent over by email, but after looking at a
couple other sites, I realized that all give credit of the pic to ComingSoon.Net.
Other than this picture, CS says that the plot of Dead Man's Chest
follows a debt owed by Johnny Depp to Davey Jones, the terrifying captain
of the ghostly ship Flying Dutchman and ruler of the ocean depths.
