Variety reported that Imagine Entertainment has just announced Bret Ratner as director of their next big heist flick. Why is this a bid deal? Well, because comedic icons Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock will be starring in it.
Ratner Takes Murphy and Rock
This perfect-crime comedy caper, which is being written by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, tracks two blue-collar guys as they endeavor to pull off the perfect crime.
Producer Brian Grazer and star Murphy hatched the idea for the film while
Murphy expressed the desire to work with Rock. Grazer and Murphy worked
together in The Nutty Professor and Bowfinger.
Obviously this recipe is one that seems quite appetizing,
however, as a caveat for those who actually recall Rock and Murphy working
together before, this film should demand much more from these guys than
their previous collaborations. Though the Beverly Hills Cop series
was more or less a success, and both Rock and Murphy were in the second
installment, Rock only played a parking attendant. Thus negating any success
these two could have had together. Rock also played a role in Dr. Dolittle,
however it was only a voice over, so again negating a successful collaboration.
