Before I talk about the new clips posted all over
online for the upcoming Michael Bay action extravaganza The
Island, lets jump on Michael Bay himself. If you read
the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly you most likely read the article
that talks about The Island and, more importantly, Michael Bay
as a director. A majority of critics hate his films, even though I cannot
say I have seen one that hasn't entertained the shit out of me. Bad
Boys II may have been a little over the top, but I loved the entire
ride. Two guys that have 'summer blockbuster' written all over them are
Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer. In most cases, Michael Bay directs while
Jerry Bruckheimer produces. The Island is one of the first films made without
the duo standing side by side. Is this a bad omen for the film? Hell no,
check out these clips!
The Island Clips
First off, a few clips, plus the extended freeway
chase, have been posted for The Island over at Yahoo! Movies. While
the clips do look amazingly cool, I do have to admit that Michael Bay may
have changed his style a bit for this film. Instead of having that 'two
parts clean, one part gritty' look, The Island looks something
similar to what Steven Spielberg did for Minority Report. Everything
about the shots are so clean that you do get an eerie presence that you
are in some future laboratory. All in all good stuff.
You can check all these clips out over at Yahoo!
Movies.
If those clips are not enough for you, the good people over at Joblo
have found direct links to two new TV spots for The Island. The
new spots are completely different than the old ones, as they show newly
finished footage from the film and post up some nice early reviews. To check
out both these spots, go to The Island Movie Page.
The Island comes to theatres this Friday.
