The crew of Serenity
While I do have to admit that I have not seen a
single episode of Firefly, I am still pretty excited about the
upcoming Joss Whedon sci-fi adventure known as Serenity.
This film looks to got it all: chicks, space battles, adventure, Nathan
Fillion, comedy, and kick ass fights. What more could I want? Well, it looked
that other people felt the same way after watching early screenings of an
'unfinished' Serenity. But now Serenity is finished, and
in floats another positive review.
Serenity Review
The good people over at AICN
have just received the first review for a finished version of Joss Whedon's
Serenity. The person who reviews the film does admit that he enjoys Firefly,
but is not a 'drooling Joss Whedon fan.' One nice aspect to the reviewer's
acknowledgement to being a fan is the fact that he gives his Serenity
review from two angles, one as a fan of Firefly and the other as
your casual moviegoer. Check out a snippet of the review below:
Firstly, it was magical to see the characters onscreen again after believing, when the series was cancelled, that I'd never hear any new dialogue from their mouths or see an expression on their faces that I hadn't seen a hundred times before while watching the series over and over again on DVD. Secondly, there are so many good things to mention that it would be impossible to list them all in a concise manner. It was a great film, and anyone who enjoys plausible science fiction, exciting old west flavor, excellent dialogue, perfect characterization, intense action, genuine drama, humor, pathos, and space cannibals, either singularly or in a multiplicity of those elements, will have a bonafide good time at the theatre.
I am also not a big Joss Whedon fan, but I like to think I know a good movie
when I see it; well, the early reviews help too. To read the entire review

Serenity comes to theatres September 30th, 2005.
