Last Days
Last Days is not the bio-pic of Nirvana's
late lead man, Kurt Cobain, but it might as well be. Director Gus Van Sant's
captures the tumultuous final hours of a brilliant yet depressed musician
in his new independent film, Last Days.
Last Days Kurt Cobain
Agitated by old friends greedily tickling his pockets and the prison his home seems to be, Blake (Michael Pitts) spends his remaining hours of life in full delusion and despair.
"Van Sant layers images and sound to articulate an emotional landscape, creating a dynamic work about a soul in transition."
This film should not disappoint Nirvana fans; most true fans will appreciate
the artistic vision Van Sant articulates. Through a Cobain-esc eye, this
film sheds light onto the final hours of the late legend. Assuming most
people who will attend a showing of this film know the story of Cobain's
death/murder, it is no less interesting watching a brilliant man suffocate
on success and die in a degenerative fashion.
This film is currently out on limited release in
the following cities: Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle and
Portland. Last Days is scheduled for a broader, though still limited
release on August 5th.
