Ghost Rider teaser poster
I had a feeling that there was something just not
right about the first teaser trailer
for Ghost Rider.
While a teaser trailer normally shows only a few spectacular shots from
a film [I was expecting a long look at the skull on fire], the first trailer
for Ghost Rider looked like a bunch of different clips ensemble
together to give us an idea to the film. My biggest peeve was that it showed
the quickest shot of the skull on fire and it didn't even look that great.
Thankfully, Sony has announced that the trailer everybody thought they were
watching wasn't even a trailer at all, but a special featurette intro that
was presented to visitors of the Ghost Rider panel at San Diego
Comic - Con.
Ghost Rider Featurette?
Whatever this first clip is from Ghost Rider,
it does seem to work like a trailer; just not a great one. I guess we can
assume that when Columbia Pictures [Sony] finally does release a teaser
trailer for the film that it will most likely be a much more polished version
of what has already been posted.
I guess we should have figured something was up when the trailer appeared
on a site that was far from official. In response to the unauthorized post
of the Ghost Rider footage, Sony / Columbia Pictures had this to
say:
Ghost Rider only recently wrapped principal photography, and the footage that appeared on this site represents the earliest version of a character that has not been fully rendered. While we were pleased with the overwhelming enthusiasm the footage received at Comic Con, this special convention piece was never intended for release on the internet. A final look of Ghost Rider is a long way from being realized and we look forward to your feedback more than a year from now when the film makes it way to theaters.
Even though I have never gotten in trouble with
Sony / Columbia pictures before, I am sure they also sent a shame - on -
you over to the site that hosted the Ghost Rider 'trailer.' All
in all, good times.
Ghost Rider still has an undisclosed release date for some time
in 2006.
