Thumbsucker
I had no idea that there was a film titled Thumbsucker
until this morning when I had received an email from 'smith' stating that
a trailer was now up online from Sony Pictures Classics. What is this film
you ask? Well, it is hard to say, but let me just point out that it features
a cast of names that include Lou Pucci, Tilda Swinton, Vince Vaughn, Vincent
D'Onofrio, Keanu Reeves, Benjamin Bratt, Kelli Garner and Chase Offerle.
Sound interesting? Well, what if I said the story of the film revolves around
sucking a thumb, multiple sexual partners, sticky greens, Keanu Reeves,
girls in their panties, ADD, and ADHD? Now that is something to see!
Thumbsucker Trailer
Besides boasting an impressive cast, Thumbsucker
also has an official synopsis that is the length of a bible. Check out the
intoduction to the synopsis below:
It's not easy growing up, no matter what age you are...
Justin Cobb (LOU PUCCI) still sucks his thumb at 17. He wants to stop and
knows that his thumbsucking is disrupting his family, his love life and
his identity. The only thing that changes his behavior is hypnosis therapy
administered by his "guru" orthodontist. But while Justin felt this would
solve all his problems and he would finally be "normal," his troubles were
really just beginning. Thumbsucking was only a symptom of a deep-seated
fear: that he and his father aren't good enough for his mother, and that
she would leave them. Thumbsucking was the only way to soothe this fear.
Once that is gone Justin spirals into manic behavior, is diagnosed with
ADHD and put on Ritalin, which becomes a substitute for his thumb. When
the high of the prescription drugs and a newfound success at school crash,
Justin turns to pot and sex to replace his thumb.
I really cannot tell what the hell is going on
in Thumbsucker, but it does look to have a comedic mixture from
the likes of Napoleon Dynamite and Life Aquatic. While
this might not be that impressive for some... did you see all the girls
in their panties?
