Anytime I look at a film, I usually give it the
most value based on its entertainment factor. There are tons of films out
there that may not be great, but we happen to pop those ones in our DVD
player more often to the Academy Award winners. A couple examples that come
to my mind are Bad Boys II and The Rundown. Each film
may not be a touch of class, but both know how to entertain the viewer.
Bad Boys II featured antics from the duo Martin Lawrence and Will
Smith while The Rundown featured the same from Seann William Scott
and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Placing a comedic duo in an action adventure
setting just seems to be the way to go.
Well, it looks as though The Rock definitely likes this style of film, as
he has signed on to do the action / adventure / comedy titled Blowback.
But who is his new partner in crime? None other than Van Wilder's Ryan Reynolds.
Let the laughs begin.
Blowback Developments
According to THR,
Touchstone Pictures has recently picked up Blowback, a buddy action
comedy with Ryan Reynolds and The Rock set to star. What is Blowback
about? Hard to say considering that a script for the film hasn't even been
started yet. What we do know is that Blowback will be something
similar to the Lethal Weapon series, where the characters are buddy
San Francisco police officers.
However, expect Blowback to be a lot more comedic that Lethal
Weapon, as the film will be produced by Tapestry Films' Andrew Panay,
Peter Abrams and Robert Levy, who are coming off the success of Wedding
Crashers.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is currently busy working
on his next film, DOOM,
based off of the best - selling FPS video game. Ryan Reynolds is still with
Alanis Morissette [hmmmm, no] and currently has two films, Just Friends
and Ride Along, coming our way for 2006.
Somewhere Seann William Scott sits jealous that The Rock found a new buddy
for buddy - comedy.
