It looks like Warner Bros and Mike Newell are on
the right track for Potter greatness. Unlike what I had hoped Lucas would
do for the new Star Wars trilogy [he finally had to for Revenge
of the Sith], Mike Newell and Warner Bros have realized
that the Harry Potter fans are not all young and that a good portion of
those who were young for Sorcerer's Stone have now grown up. What
does this mean? Well, considering that JK Rowling keeps writing more adult
books, we should expect more adult movies. And, as hoped by many, it seems
like Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was just a taste
of the Potter films to come, as Harry
Potter and the Goblet of Fire has just received an MPAA
rating of PG-13. Hurray!
Goblet of Fire Rating
If you think about what Goblet of Fire
entails, we should have expected the upcoming film to be PG-13. First we
heard that the film can be placed in the 'thriller' genre, and add the fact that death does occur on screen. Killing young characters on
screen in semi-horrific fashion could have probably been the deciding principle
on why to go PG-13, but I am hoping for more reasons than that.
If you have read Harry Potter and the Goblet
of Fire, than you most likely know that this story is the best in the
entire Potter series. Seeing that the films have so closely matched the
books, I can only hope great things for the movie Harry Potter and the
Goblet of Fire with the PG-13 rating confirming that Warner Bros are playing
their cards right.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire comes to theatres on November
18th.
