At the beginning of this week we had received word
of early reviews [here] and
a movie poster [here] for
the upcoming film Jarhead
starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper and Peter Sarsgaard.
While I found all this to be great news on the upcoming Desert Storm movie,
I asked the readers how the heck we could possibly already be at test-screening
phase when we don't even have a teaser trailer. Well, it just so has it
that Universal Pictures has released the first movie trailer for Jarhead
today.
Jarhead Movie Trailer
There is something about Jarhead that just makes
me think Three Kings. I don't know if it is the strange scenes [such as
the flight attendants wishing the troops a good day] or the calm of soldiers
as they grow accustomed to enemy fire. However, the biggest shocker for
this first Jarhead trailer was the soundtrack. Forget a nice classical piece
or some type of march, bring on the rap music for this trailer. But check
this out-- the music fit. Don't ask me how, but it actually was a nice element
to the overall feeling being conveyed.
Other than that, all of the actors listed above look great in this film
and we could see the first real blockbuster under Jake Gyllenhaal's belt.
I am actually surprised that Jake agreed to this film thinking that it may
be too big for him [he likes small films]. Depending on the political message
[how political does this film actually go?], Jarhead could still
turn out being a small film.
