Considering that Ryan Reynolds was one of the first
inserts into our Star Database [coming tonight], I am pleased to hear that
this guy has picked up a few new roles this year. For instance, Joe Carnahan
has recently gone back to the top gear with his upcoming film Smokin'
Aces and has recently announced the selected cast. According to Variety,
of the new crew we can expect to see Ryan Reynolds, Jeremy Piven and Alicia
Keys set to star along with Ben Affleck [where has he been?] who is planned
to play a small but important role.
Smokin' Aces Gets Reynolds, Keys, and Affleck
Joe Carnahan was able to come back and work on
his upcoming action/comedy Smokin' Aces, the sequel to Narc,
after leaving the crew of Mission
Impossible 3 due to 'creative differences.' The film will
follow the story of a Las Vegas comedian [Piven] who turns on the same mobsters
he had once worked for. This therefore causes not only the arrival of the
FBI [Reynolds] to look into the situation, but a number of various assassins
[Keys]. It is the FBI's duty to track down the comedian and secure him for
his own protection.
The film sounds interesting to say the least and
I couldn't be happier with the choice of cast. With the involvement of Ryan
Reynolds, expect Smokin' Aces to have a good lean on comedy. You
can also catch Reynolds in the upcoming film Waiting
and it has also been announced that Reynolds will be teaming up with The
Rock in a Lethal Weapon type buddy comedy.
