Clueless "Whatever!" Edition
Though I am not the biggest fan of Clueless,
and I was a major Alicia Silverstone back then, it is the fact that this
film and Tommy Boy will be re-heading our way at the end of August
in DVD Special Edition greatness.
Clueless and Tommy Boy Special Edition
Clueless “Whatever!” Edition
will be available on DVD on August 30th. Directed by Amy Heckerling, this
comedy starring teen - sex - icon - of - the - 90s Alicia Silverstone offers
up a few laughs as we re-live high school and experience an interesting
twist at the end.
It's not easy being the most popular and glamorous
girl at Beverly Hills High. Especially when you're the envy of scheming
Betties (female babes), persistent Barney's (unattractive guys), loser loadies
(potheads), and teachers who go postal (freak out) when you turn your homework
in late! Yet somehow 15-year-old Cher (Alicia Silverstone) keeps it all
together, even fining time for extracurricular projects like finding a love
match for her debate class teacher (Wallace Shawn), and giving a dowdy friend
(Brittany Murphy) a fashion makeover. But Cher's tidy world starts to unravel
with the sudden appearance of two total Baldwins (hunks): a sexy and stylish
new classmate (Justin Walker), and Cher's square but cute "ex-stepbrother"
(Paul Rudd). Now Cher is about to learn that when it comes to love, she's...
well, Clueless.
If you were paying attention to the synopsis to
Clueless above, you may have caught that this film also featured
Paul Rudd [Anchorman, The
40 Year-Old Virgin], Justin Walker and the Sin
City hottie Brittany Murphy. Not a bad line-up and good
to see these actors still working. Ok, well, at least two of the three actors
are still working. I don't know what the hell film projects Justin Walker
has gotten himself into.
Tommy Boy Holly Schnike Edition
Though it might be strange to see a special edition
for Clueless, there is no better news when it comes to stand out
comedy to hear that we also have a special edition for Tommy Boy
coming our way. Titled Tommy Boy Holly Schnike Edition, the DVD
should give us a good reminder on what a wonderful comedic pair David Spade
and Chris Farley were and how much Farley is missed.
Party animal Tommy Callahan (Chris Farley) is definitely a few cans short of a six-pack. But after seven years, Tommy's finally earned his diploma - and a cushy job at Callahan Auto Parts. Returning home, Tommy gets some more great news: his dad (Brian Dennehy) is marrying a real "10" (Bo Derek), and Tommy will get the stepbrother (Rob Lowe) he always wanted. Awesome!
But as fast as you can say "Who killed the keg?", the family business starts tanking. Now Tommy's got to hit the road with his dad's right-hand man, a smug number-cruncher (David Spade). And what these two don't know about salesmanship could fill a book - and a riotously funny movie! Saturday Night Live stars Farley and Spade "take off like rockets" (Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times) in a road comedy where every turn leads to laughter. Ask for it by name: TOMMY BOY!
Tommy Boy Holly Schnike Edition comes to DVD on August 30th as well.
