Good Night, And Good Luck movie poster
Here is a film that is for those who are tired
of the mindless blockbusters and are looking for something that has power,
history, and no color. Good
Night, And Good Luck stars one hell of an all-star cast
that includes George Clooney, David Strathairn, Robert Downey Jr., Patricia
Clarkson, Jeff Daniels, Tate Donovan, Ray Wise and Frank Langella [to name
a few]. Even though this film is shot in stunning black & white, there
could be something here that not even the largest blockbusters could express.
Good Night, And Good Luck Trailer
I am actually surprised that it would be none other
than George Clooney who would take a chance at tackling history and give
a hard nosed look at the McCarthy era through the eyes of a group of reporters.
Good Night, And Good Luck tells of the real-life conflict between
television newsman Edward R. Murrow and Senator Joseph McCarthy. Even in
the midst of fear spread by the McCarthy 'witch hunts', Murrow, and staff,
was willing to report on the truth to 'examine the lies and scare-mongering
tactics perpetrated by McCarthy.'
Though this film may not strike the younger moviegoers as something to see,
it may just strike too close to home for a good portion of baby-boomers
and up.
