Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
We have recently been discussing how it is nice
to see Jim Carrey take a couple steps back into the more comedic roles beginning
with the film Fun
with Dick and Jane. However, this comedy is not going
to be anywhere near as silly as Dumb and Dumber, which makes me
question will Carrey ever return to goofball comedies?
Though the option is still up in the air, Jim Carrey may be taking the big
leap back into slapstick comedy by joining up with none other than one of
the kings of slapstick-- Ben Stiller.
Still and Carrey are Used Guys
According to Variety, Ben Stiller and Jim Carrey
may be teaming up to bring us a comedy about clones. Actually, the idea
for Used Guys was contrived a few years back between Stiller and
director-buddy Jay Roach [Meet the Parents], but has since been
put on the backburner and has switched over to Fox. The one thing that could
jumpstart this project going again would be the addition of Carrey, something
that is currently in talks.
Used Guys will star Jim Carrey and Ben Stiller as 'pleasure clones'
on an Earth that is dominated by women. Not that this is a horrible thing,
as all of their menstrual cycles will be on track.... Actually, with that
much estrogen the one solution was to clone males for sexual and nurturing
purposes. The only thing that sucks is that new, better, models are created
all the time, resulting in Carrey's and Stiller's characters becoming out
dated.
What do you do when you realize that the ladies who created do not want
you anymore? Head off to a city-state called Mantopia. Used Guys
will allow us to follow these clones on their journey to this mythical place.
Personally, I am digging everything about this film. For one, I would like
Ben Stiller to finally crank out another classic comedy; he's due. Sure,
he has had great success with Meet the Parents and Meet the
Fockers, but with films like Dodgeball I begin to wonder.
It will also be good to see Carrey back in another let - your - balls -
hang - out comedic role. However, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
was a great film and Carrey was great in it, so he can stick with these
types of films too.
