A little while back we announced that Brad Pitt
and Casey Affleck were teaming up for the film The Assassination of
Jesse James. Pitt is set to star as the famous outlaw Jesse James with
Casey Affleck set to play Robert Ford, a member of the gang who set out
to murder Jesse. Well, it seems like the cast has grown and so has the title.
Assassination of Jesse James Gets a Shepard
First off, it turns out that the full working title
for the film is The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert
Ford. Holy crap that's a long title, something I do hope they slim
back down to what we originally had hoped. It is going to take two one-sheets
just to fight the dang title.
Besides the title, thehollywoodreporter
has recently announced that Sam Shepard [Black Hawk Down, Stealth]
has recently signed on to play the roll of Jesse James' brother, Frank.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford begins
filming this week up in Canada with Andrew Dominik taking the directors
chair. The original story was written and adapted by Ron Hansen. Just when
you thought we couldn't have more talent, Ridley and Tony Scott are set
to produce the film through their production company Scott Free Prods.
All in all, good times. I can't wait to see how
things develop with this film, as we can always use a good western. On a
side note, it looks like Colin Farell and Brad Pitt have now shared a couple
things-- the role of Jesse James and [insert name here].
