Purchase Order of the Phoenix at Amazon
Though it may be a little awkward talking about
the production of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix months
before Goblet of
Fire gets its shot in the theatres, this is a detail that
just can't be passed up. Anytime a film passes up the $100 million mark
[in budget], it is something worth mentioning if you are a fan or keeping
quiet if you are a Warner Bros exec. But what can you say when the proposed
budget skyrockets passed that number?
Harry Potter OotP Jumps to July
In the latest report from Variety,
they discuss how the budget for blockbuster films has increased greatly
over the years [duh!]. One of the films that gets an honorable mention is
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which currently has a proposed
budget of $150M and up.
Though this increased budget can only mean great things for Potter fans
everywhere, is it really possible that Order of the Phoenix can
have a greater budget than Goblet of Fire? Having read both books
I would have thought that the sequences, special effects and settings for
Goblet of Fire would have been enough to make it the most expensive
Potter film ever.
Not that I am complaining, maybe they just plan
to ensure that every detail is perfect and every special effect is nothing
short of incredible. If this is true, can we please have a better-looking
Phoenix? I am sick and tired of the one that looks like it was hijacked
off the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland.
