More Super Villain Rumors

Venom Another report mentions Venom.
A while back we had posted that there was a major confirmation that we would have three villains for the upcoming film Spider-Man 3 and they were as follows: Topher Grace is Venom , Thomas Haden Church is Sandman and James Franco is Hobgoblin. Immediately after the post we began to receive emails from the doubtful fans who were sick and tired of the false rumors flying around for Spider-Man 3. Not to put those emails in their place, but there is now even more evidence confirming the villains... well, at least Venom.

Amongst the new report is the latest on additional X-Men 3 mutants as well.

Spider-Man 3 Grips Venom and X3 Softens Colossus

The good people over at Superman-V.Com have recently sat down with Brian K. Hillard, one of the people working with on the Superman 'FlyBy'. Though their main objective was to talk about Superman Returns, a few interesting details popped up that concerned two other films-- Spider-Man 3 and X-Men 3. I don't know if Hillard had a few cocktails before the interview, but check out a couple of nice little slips of info by the fellow.

Q: From the upcoming slate of movies based on material from comic books which one are most looking forward to and why? Ghost Rider, V For Vendetta, Watchmen, Sin City sequels, Spider-Man 3, X-Men 3 etc.

BH: V for Vendetta big time, Watchman; I'm a big Alan Moore fan, I loved the first Sin City - the next should be a blast as well. I worked on X-Men 3 for a little stint and the stuff for that looks great. I also worked on all the Spiderman 3 "Venom" stuff at Steve Johnson's till we lost that show as well - however, I am excited to see what they come up with, I'm a big Spiderman fan as well. They need to make a film based on the new Image Zombie series "The Walking Dead", and I am really excited about the "30 Days of Night" that is on the way based on the IDW comic written by the bad ass Steve Niles. I'm a big comic book geek and could go on for hours talking about this stuff!!!

Q: Which characters did you work on for X-Men 3?

BH: I worked a bit on the Colossus character.

I guess the biggest piece of news to come out the first snippet is that Hillard mentions 'Venom stuff', which I would hope most would guess to be effects or outfits for a Venom character. Since I have been rooting for the appearance of Venom since the beginning of the casting call for Spider-Man 3, I am going to take this slip by Hillard as further evidence that we will have three characters for the upcoming sequel, and Venom will be one of them.

The other bit of news is the fact that it is likely that Colossus will be coming back for X-Men 3. In an earlier report, it was mentioned that Brett Ratner and company was having difficulties to get the actor that originally played Colossus in X2 to fit into a larger role. Since it has been so long, I cannot remember if the issue either came down to acting or inability to handle the increased dialogue. Either way, the guy still looked pretty tight in X-Men 2.

Spider-Man 3 comes to theatres on May 4th, 2007. X-Men 3 comes to theatres on May 26th, 2006.

For the entire discussion with Hillard on all his latest projects, head over to Superman-V.

Stay tuned for updates.
