Nicole Kidman in Bewitched
Nicole Kidman, bouncing every which way with her
last film Bewitched,
has already done well for herself by lining up a whole slew of films for
2006 and 2007. However, Kidman also has a craving for Jules Bass' comic
novel Headhunters, something she plans to adapt [personally] into
a feature-length film.
Kidman All over Headhunters
According to Variety,
Nicole Kidman will star in and produce a bigscreen adaptation of Jules Bass'
comic novel Headhunters for Fox 2000 and Regency Enterprises.
Even though Fox optioned the Bass book -- the author's first novel for adults
--in 1999, the company has just recently picked up scribes Jez and John
Henry Butterworth to write the screenplay for the adaptation. Jez Butterworth
and Nicole Kidman have worked together before on Birthday Girl.
Headhunters is about centering four New
Jersey women who jet to Monte Carlo and pretend to be rich heiresses in
hopes of landing wealthy husbands. Once there, they are targeted by four
down-on-their-luck gigolos trying to pass as wealthy playboys. Though the
title of the film would hint otherwise, a better title probably would have
been Manhunters or Gold-Diggers; at least, in my opinion.
I guess Fox is attempting to keep the serious tone to the story by going forward with the same title as the original novel.
Nicole Kidman is currently working on Invasion, The Lady from
Shanghai, Happy Feet, Fur and another hex to get
Tom Cruise squirted again. Ok, she may not be working on that last part.
