Ioan Gruffudd in Fantastic Four
There is a strange formula in Hollywood that coincides
perfectly with some films and completely misses the mark with others. When
it comes to sequels, there is nothing the movie industry likes better. But
what is the first indicator to lighten up the green? Well, brilliant films
do not guarantee a sequel, brilliant box office reports do. Luckily for
films such as Fantastic
Four, some sub-par films can be box office gold.
Frost on Fantastic Four
The good people over at IESB
have sat down with Mark Frost, who says he is currently in negotiations
to pen Fantastic Four 2 and is hoping to come back again. He already
knows in which direction he wants the characters to head and plans to have
all the Fantastic Four come back.
Currently, Frost is out promoting The Greatest Game Ever Played,
a film that he has been interested in ever since he discovered the story
back in 1999.
To close the discussion, IESB asked Frost what
he thought about the negative buzz that circulated around the net for the
original Fantastic Four and Frost defends the film by stating,
one, the box office and, two, the fact that the film captures the energy
behind the comic books perfectly; something that is light and humorous.
It may have been the light approach that made FF far from great. But how
can I argue with the box office?
