After begging for just about the entire summer
for Sam Raimi to choose Venom as one of the villains for Spider-Man
3, two recent reports have finally confirmed that Venom
will in fact appear in the sequel and be played by Topher Grace. Great news!
However, with good always comes the bad, and this scoop is slightly troubling.
Spider-Man 3 Villain Profiles
According to a scoop sent in to FreezeDriedMovies,
the costume design for the villains for Spider-Man 3 is nothing
short of atrocious [aka, sucks big monkey balls]. Check out the scoop below:
Basically the costume design in Spiderman
3 is a disaster, just like Mr. Green Goblin in the first Spidey. Our
scooper writes in, "If you thought the first 'Spiderman' was bad in terms
of development, just wait until you see the next film. The first problem
is with Venom's costume, which Spiderman wears first. Instead of being pure
black, they took a bit from the comic and gave it a disgusting purple tint.
In the comic the reason for the tint was to Venom stood out in the shadows,
but in film there's no reason for this. Now I've actually seen the costume
designs and they're terrible. The purple looks awful.
And yes it gets much, much worse. All I can say about the Hobgoblin outfit is "yikes"! He looks like a skateboarder or something."
Now, being a huge fan of the animated series, Venom
is definitely one of my favorite villains of all time. Just the fact that
the individual wearing the space syndicate can morph into any outfit they
like, including one tough looking spidie outfit, should be cool enough to
help the box office numbers go soaring. However, this latest scoop claims
that Venom looks like crap. Crap!
Should we begin to worry? Probably not. Considering that we have just under
two years left until the release of Spider-Man 3, we should assume
a lot of improvements with time.
