Domino Reviews Grow... not Glow

Domino Keira Knightley is Domino
Domino has always been one of those films that is hard to gauge based off of the trailers, posters, movie stills and talent behind the film. The movie posters and stills look great, the cast and crew are excellent, and the clips are mind-boggling. However, can moviegoers handle an entire film based off of this erratic style of cinematography and story-telling?

Domino Reviews

The first review for Domino previewed is actually the 2nd review from the entertainment site AICN. Though their first review gushed positive feelings towards the film, this 2nd go completely blasts it.

In Harry’s review, he called Domino a Keira Knightley exploitation flick. I beg to differ. It’s we, the audience, who are being exploited. Domino is a total hoodwink. You might even walk out of the theater saying positive things, but let it sit for a while. You won’t remember it. It is an utterly forgettable film experience. A movie that could’ve been so much more, if Scott had paid attention to the old saying, “less is more.”

Guys, Harry’s opinion means a lot to me. He’s honestly the first critic I wanna hear from when reading up on a movie. Just because I write for the site doesn’t mean you should take that lightly. But on this one, he’s way off. Domino fails on nearly every level. Not even Donnie Darko himself could pick up this fallen Domino.

Eesh, not a positive review in the slightest. Is the second review 'alerted' to us a saving grace for Domino? Well, not exactly. According to Joblo, there are many other Scott films you should prefer to see over this.

Oh, and even though Knightley apparently employed the use of an “ass-double” for her lap-dance scene (why would you admit to that?), she pulls a JACKET on us and shows us her boobies in the end anyway. What’s up with that?!? Very odd, and yet oddly enough…greatly appreciated! A decent flick that should have been amazing, but doesn’t make it all the way with a lack of focus on its main characters, a story that goes through too many puzzles and a runtime that outlasts itself. Also, the Tom Waits “cameo” in the end was idiotic and out of place. That said, some good times can still be had inside, so play it by ear and make your own decision on this one.

Expect a couple more reviews to head our way for Domino before its release this weekend.

Domino comes to theatres on October 14th.
