Though our updates on the upcoming Broadway adaptation,
The Producers,
have been little [where are the stills?], we are pleased to alert everybody
that the domestic version of the film's trailer has finally popped up online.
The Producers Trailer
This is The Producers trailer we had hoped
for! Though the trailer still features a little bit of that shot - on -
a - home video - camera look [at times], the film gives me so many flashbacks
to the Broadway play [I saw the LA version] that I found myself chuckling
more than a few times. Actually, my only disappointment with the trailer
is that it completely leaves out the gay director, a character that had
me howling when I saw the play.
If you did not have the opportunity to see The Producers in LA
or New York, then you should definitely check out this film. If you did
see the stage play, then you still probably are going to want to check out
this film. Besides, it was always claimed that Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick
served up a better version in New York than Short and Alexander did in LA,
so I will have at least go and see what all the fuss was about.
Two-time Tony Award winners Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick return to their celebrated roles as Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, a scheming theatrical producer and his mousy CPA who hit upon the perfect plan to embezzle a fortune: raise far more money than you need to produce a sure-fire Broadway flop and then (since no one will expect anything back), Max and Leo can pocket the difference.
