Fun with Dick and Jane
If there is one movie trailer that I am hoping
to see away from an FX flash site it is that of Fun
with Dick and Jane. A while back Columbia Pictures was
able to give us a great looking trailer that had everything going for it
except for the fact that it was small and embedded in a flash website. Not
only was the flash site not created for Fun with Dick and Jane,
but it was actually one of the official sites for Nip Tuck. Wha?
However, since the time of a large full trailer has yet to come, all we
have to go off of is a couple early reviews and a teaser trailer which is
humorous and intriguing to say the least. But here comes the first dent
before the December release of Fun with Dick and Jane -- a semi-negative
review.
Fun with Dick and Jane Review
The latest review to pop up for Fun with Dick
and Jane calls the film 'brain-dead,' with a comparison to Mr
and Mrs Smith. Considering I greatly enjoyed the fun behind
Smith, I guess that could be a good thing?
Jim Carrey works overtime trying to compensate
for a limp script. Tea Leoni is miscast. At most, she’s a supporting
player. Quite frankly, I don’t like her very much. They should have
gone with Cameron Diaz, who I seem to recall was originally cast, or maybe
Felicity Huffman. Richard Jenkins delivers a nice drunken frazzled turn
as one of the corporate executives who shafted everyone. Overall, the movie
is okay at best, but mostly dull. It needs to be cut to get the robbing
scenes sooner. It’s maybe worth a video rental.
The review then ends on something I just can't completely understand. Does the reviewer, 'psychodelic', point out that he may be alone in his opinions on this film?
The black slime had pooled below me during the movie. I thought I was all clear. But when I exited, their screeching wails deafened. They pointed their fingers. They wanted to gorge on me. I ran.
Take it as you may, but you can read the entire
review for Fun with Dick and Jane over at AICN.
Fun with Dick and Jane comes to theatres on December 21st, 2005.
