Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- Campsite Scene
Man, we have begun to rock the Harry Potter
updates and it is not even November yet! Take for instance this latest update
thanks to the good people over at MovieFone. If you had wondered how dark
Harry Potter and
the Goblet of Fire could possibly be, this latest clip
could give you one hell of an inclination.
But this clip is flawed! Well, not exactly, but if you are a reader of the
Goblet of Fire novels you should notice the difference right off.
Ok, ok, I'll point out the flaw; or should I say discrepancy?
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Clip
This latest clip for Harry Potter and the Goblet
of Fire takes place in the campsite right after the close of the Quidditch
World Cup. If you are a reader of the books you will know that during this
scene we see the arrival of the Death Eaters, who decide to create a little
havoc if nothing more. The clip looks great and definitely shows the upgrade
in production for this new Potter film. However, the clip closes
out on a major difference from the novel, a difference that could take a
bit of the mystery out of the story.
At the end of the clip we see the dark mark get fired off by 'somebody'
[hell no, I'm not revealing the identity]. This scene couldn't have been
more different from the book. First off, the campsite scene leads Potter
and friends into the woods to hide out until the Death Eaters are dealt
with. Upon arriving into the woods they encounter Winky, a house elf that
looks like she is struggling to move. Darkness falls upon the woods and
in a bit of time the dark mark appears right above the children. Upon investigating
the incident, Winky is discovered with Harry Potter's wand in her hand and,
for the time being, is the number one suspect. But why would Winky, a house
elf, want to fire off the dark mark?
This scene added a good base to the mystery of Goblet of Fire,
which makes me wonder why Newell would jump these details and just show
a wizard firing the mark off instead.
Now, don't think I am complaining, because the
scene still looks terrific and the dark mark has never looked brighter.
I also like the actor they picked up to play 'somebody', as he fits the
part perfectly. I personally cannot wait to see the scene where Harry Potter
journeys into the Pensieve and gets a brief history lesson on the trials
of the Death Eaters.
