Charles Shyer, known for films such as Alfie
and the Father of the Bride series, plans to team with Larry Spencer
to rewrite the original script for Father Knows Less. Though the
script still needs work, the Father has already been selected.
Dustin Hoffman on Father Knows Less
Dustin Hoffman, last seen as a parent in Meet
the Fockers, has been selected to play the lead role in Father
Knows Less.
According to Variety,
Hoffman will play a record industry mogul who finds himself stuck with the
day-to-day affairs of his family when his wife leaves him. For help, he
turns to the kids from his first marriage, the ones he neglected when he
was building his music career.
Shyer and Spencer will be looking to ground the film and make it less of
a broad comedy. The duo also plans to create an entirely new title for the
story before the filming begins; which I guess would make this article obsolete.
New Line Cinema has already announced that they will be shepherding Father
Knows Less... or whatever title it soon becomes.
