Michael Clarke Duncan plays Manute in Sin City and the sequel.
One of the only Sin
City graphic novels I have not read is A Dame to Kill
For, the focal point for Robert Rodriguez's sequel adaptation to the
Frank Miller series. Besides the necessity of me getting out to purchase
the novel, I have been attempting to keep up to date with all sinful things,
including updates on returning cast.
We have already heard from Brittany Murphy and her return for Sin City
2, and we now have a semi-confirmation from Michael Clarke Duncan.
Duncan Back for Sin City 2
If you remember the details in the original Sin
City, Michael Clarke Duncan's character, Manute, is the broad fellow
with the gold eye. He is also the one that gets wasted with whore-ish bullets
by the end of the film. But then how does the character return for a sequel?
Well, in the world of Frank Miller, time bounces around a lot.
In a recent interview with Empire,
Duncan had this to say about Sin City 2:
Hang on, though… didn’t Manute die in the first Sin City? Well,
yes, but the story that will form the basis for the Robert Rodriguez-Frank
Miller sequel, A Dame To Kill For, takes place before Sin City:
The Movie. So Duncan’s had a reprieve… now he just needs to get the
nod from Frank’n’Robert that he’s returning.
“We’ve talked about it. Manute has a very big role [in that] and I certainly wanna be a part of it. You’ll think, ‘didn’t he get killed?’ but Frank doesn’t do it in order. True fans will understand that.”
