Here is the first part of many review round ups for the upcoming film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Though I am already convinced that I am going to be extremely pleased with this latest chapter in the battle versus Lord Voldemort, how can I resist more of the positive?

Goblet of Fire Movie Reviews

Here are three new movie reviews for the upcoming film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Each of the reviews are pretty solid, with each giving little tidbits into the film.

Rolling Stone
Newell also does the action proud, staging an exciting Triwizard Tournament and an underwater chase involving evil spirits. Scariest of all is Ralph Fiennes doing his Red Dragon stare as Lord Voldemort, the fiend who killed Harry's parents. Freud would have loved this Goblet . With the cast getting looser and the mind games kinkier, it's hard to resist.

Latino Review
Mike Newell tries to bring the 5,692 page novel to life in what is the most action packed chapter in the series to date, both on film and print. Yes, I do read the books. I cannot possibly write a review on a film without extensive study and research. I'm a professional people. My word is golden.

In regards to the tournament scenes, they were done so masterfully I wanted to watch them again. And you never read those kinds of lines in my reviews. Mark this as a first, because I am now kissing everyone's ass who was involved in this production. Everyone has seen the dragon clip from the trailer, and that task Harry had to face with said dragon was intense and extremely well shot. In fact, all of the action in this film was fantastic. I'm going out to the store right now to buy kneepads because if I ever run into Mike Newell and his director of photography I'm gonna have to get on my knees and show them how we Americans are better at everything we do. Shining shoes baby. Shining shoes.

Is this the best movie I've seen so far this year? I'm almost inclined to say yes. I was hooked from the opening minute to the closing credits.

AICN
What's missing from the book is what SHOULD be missing from a film adaptation, in my opinion. Gone is Hermione's fight for the rights of the House Elves, gone is the majority of Rita Skeeter's libelous reporting (not all, but she pretty much disappears after the first Tri-Wizard Challenge). The movie centers on the Tri-Wizard Tournament, with each of the 3 challenges marking a turning point in each act of the film.

Every key member of the cast gets at least one moment to shine. Alan Rickman is such an inspired bit of casting for Snape. I can't wait for the film where Snape gets more than just a little nibble here or there. He's really only in a small portion of the movie, but the filmmakers must have recognized this problem early on and gave him a fantastic and silent scene with the kids while they're supposed to be working. Can't wait for HALF-BLOOD PRINCE to really see Rickman get his time in the limelight!

Right now I couldn't really say if I prefer GOBLET OF FIRE to PRISONER OF AZKABAN, which is my favorite Potter movie. If I end up picking one over the other, it'd be more because of a preference of a book/story than of the individual movie. It's in the same league as AZKABAN for me and depending on how repeat viewings go I might place it ahead of AZKABAN.

My little sister is attempting to convince me to see Harry Potter on the Goblet of Fire during the midnight showing... something that I am more and more inclined to jump onto.
