I am not too sure about this latest creation from the makers of Billy Madison and Big Daddy. In an attempt to bring together three comedic actors --
Rob Schneider, David Spade and Jon Heder -- The Benchwarmers looks to be a comedic hit or miss. Though the trailer tries to make the film look funny, it only succeeds occasionally.
The Benchwarmers Trailer
Gus and his nerdy buddies, Richie and Clark, are scouted by a millionaire nerd, Mel, who wants to form a baseball team and compete with the meanest Little League teams in the state. A stellar ballplayer, Gus becomes a role model for nerds and outcasts everywhere. But when his fans learn that Gus, himself, was once a school bully, they feel outraged and betrayed, until Gus takes extraordinary steps to win back their admiration and trust.
The Benchwarmers looks to follow the Bad News Bears formula, as we are again confronted with a group of guys, and kids, that couldn't win in the Special Olympics. However, bonded by heart and motivated for respect, these un-athletic people join together to create a winning team.
Though The Benchwarmers is obviously a comedy, it looks a little too silly. However, we will have to wait for the full trailer to know for sure.

The Benchwarmers comes to theatres on April 7th, 2006.
