With various movie studios making progress with their own films based off of the 9-11 tragedy, or the events thereafter, it looks like Sony Pictures is ready to join the flight with Don Cheadle and... Adam Sandler?
Reign O'er Me For Cheatle and Sandler
According to Variety,
writer-director Mike Binder (The Upside of Anger) is the latest filmmaker ready to process the aftermath of tragedy 9/11, with Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler set to star.
The film will be titled Reign O'er Me and will be placed under the Sony Pictures Entertainment banner with a budget under $20 million.
Sandler would play a man who lost his family on Sept. 11 and who has never recovered from his grief. He runs into his former college roommate (Cheadle), who has become a doctor and who is determined to help his ex-roomie come to grips with his loss.
Reign O'er Me is set to come out sometime next year with Michael Rotenberg and Jack Binder sitting in the producers' chair.
With all the dramatized reenactments of the incidents on 9-11 displayed on various networks including the History Channel, it comes as no surprise that Reign O'er Me is not the first film to jump on the tragic event.
Bourne Supremacy director Paul Greengrass, fresh off of the Watchmen project, is busy at Universal making the film Flight 93, a partly improvised tale about what might have happened when passengers on the hijacked flight overpowered the terrorists, who crashed the plane in a vacant field, killing all aboard.
