If there is one director who is defining the next gen it is Bryan Singer. That guy has been cool with me ever since The Usual Suspects and Apt Pupil. However, it wasn't up until X-Men 2, when the still-extremely-young looking Singer single-handedly raised the bar on how comicbook films should be made.
As most know, Bryan Singer has been working on a little film called Superman Returns, a film that caused him to bail out on X-Men 3. Though the filming of Superman was strenuous, the cameras have now been tucked away and Singer is ready to discuss the film, the editing and future projects.
Singer Talks
IESB has recently got back into action and were able to catch up with Bryan Singer and hit him up with some warm up questions on Superman Returns. Questions such as 'Why the no-name Brandon Routh?' and 'Why keep Marlon Brando?'.
After they dived into Superman, a nice segway question was thrown out in comparing Superman Returns to Bryan Singer's X-Men films. However, the questions quickly come back to Superman with the word of the day being 'sequel.' According to Singer, he claims that he takes only one film at a time and, though the sequels are there, he is taking his time before pre-production.
Though the questions on Singer's current and possible projects were cool, the best aspect of the interview with Singer is when he gets confronted about
a rumor of him possibly being interested in doing a Star Trek film. Singer admits that he is a huge Trekkie and says that if he were to do a film, it would be 'big.'
