Jamie Foxx as Ray
Though most people have been giving Jamie Foxx some added attention now-a-days since his incredible portrayal of characters in films such as Ray, Ali and Jarhead, I have loved the guy ever since the days of In Living Color. No, wait, since we are talking film lets just call it on Bootie Call; he was hilarious in that film.
Since Jamie Foxx is now looks to be a full-blooded actor, I guess it was only a matter of time before he was watched so close that we would know or hear about every casting op that the guy has picked up. For instance...
Jamie Foxx to Star in The Kingdom
According to Variety, Universal Pictures has recently picked up Jamie Foxx to star in their upcoming film The Kingdom. The film will be directed by Peter Berg [The Rundown, Friday Night Lights], who recently had a bit of experience with Jamie Foxx on the set of Collateral. But instead of directing, Peter Berg played one of the many officers of the law trying to track down Vincent [Tom Cruise].
I guess it is more than just a bit of a coincidence since Michael Mann [Collateral, director] will also produce The Kingdom.
In The Kingdom Foxx will play the leader of a team of U.S. counter-terrorism investigators who set out to find the perpetrators behind a deadly attack on Americans in a Middle Eastern country. In order to work through the bureaucracy and cultural hostility, the team enlists a local police officer, but still find itself a target for the terrorists.
Jamie Foxx is currently busy with three new films coming our way in the next couple of years including Miami Vice; also produced and directed by Michael Mann.
