During the end of November we had mentioned that Tim Burton and Jim Carrey were looking to team up for Paramount Pictures Believe It or Not. The film is loosely based on Robert Ripley, a San Francisco Chronicle cartoonist for the turned adventure-seeking traveler in search of the world’s most bizarre commodities which he chronicled for his “Ripley’s: Believe It Or Not!” publication. With the announcement only coming our way last week, Jim Carrey is already out and talking about the film.
Believe it or Not!
The good people over at LatinoReview were able to catch up with Jim Carrey and get him to discuss his current involvement in Believe it or Not. Though Jim Carrey does sound pretty amped about the film, he seems even more excited about working with Tim Burton.
Jim what got you excited to do Ripley’s Believe it or Not?
Jim Carrey: Well Tim Burton, working with Tim Burton, I’ve always wanted to work with Tim Burton, he’s a genius. I’m so excited about that. We met when I was in Paris and you know when you meet somebody you really admire you’re always a little nervous about “Gosh I wondered if he’d like me? I wonder if he’d be somebody I like?” We met and it was just immediately a great time, and he’s a great guy. And I don’t think anybody can do the “Freaks” better than he could. (Laughs) I’m going to be surrounded by a bunch of misfits in the movie and I just think it’s going to be wonderful. I’m really looking forward to it.
When does that begin?
Jim Carrey: In the Fall I think if all this stuff goes right.
Jim Carrey also talks about his role in The Number 23, so head over to LatinoReview and check out the entire interview.
