I have been looking forward to hearing the review for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe from Ebert & Roeper ever since I forgot to Tivo their television show. Lucky for me, the official website of the show already has the recording online.
Chronicles of Narnia Review
The review from Ebert & Roeper spent a surprising amount of time on the plot of The Chronicles of Narnia instead of their thoughts on it. However, when they did discuss their own feelings towards the film, both were extremely positive and, in a move that seems can't be avoided, compared Narnia to Lord of the Rings.
They also pointed out that some may notice the Christian themes through out the film [though other reviews say they don't exist]. Here are a few snippets from the discussion between Ebert & Roeper below:
Ebert
The movie is a kinder, gentler, fantasy than Lord of the Rings, but still does feature scary images.
A fantasy that has charm of all things, plus beauty and enchantment and a message worth listening to.
The animals are so well integrated into the action... the wolves may be a bit scary for young kids that I was surprised the film was PG.
Roeper
The film doesn't depend on special effects but the four kids; but the special effects are first rate.
Since I am currently geeked out on fantasy stuff -- reading Eragon as we speak -- I can only hope that this 'kids' fantasy tale hits hard at the box office.
