Rescue Dawn
There are a few things that trouble me about the first movie trailer for Rescue Dawn starring Christian Bale and Steve Zahn. First, I am curious if Rescue Dawn was filmed some time around The Machinist, as it looks like Bale has again shed enough weight to look, well, like a walking skeleton once again. If he lost the weight after Batman Begins I can only wonder how long his body is going to keep running before calling it quits on him.
My second issue with the trailer is the horrible format (warning: MPG can freeze IE browsers) and the fact that it is not the best resolution. And, last, the quick shot of Steve Zahn really freaked my ass out. I am used to the guy making me laugh, so I don't know how moviegoers are going to respond to seeing him in this type of role.
Rescue Dawn Teaser Trailer
Christian Bale and Steve Zahn will star in Rescue Dawn, an action drama by Werner Herzog and based on the director's acclaimed 1997 documentary, Little Dieter Needs to Fly. The project, which has been coming together in fits and starts during the past year, begins shooting in Thailand in mid-August. The film recounts the true story of German-born Dieter Dengler, who dreamed of being a pilot and eventually made his way to the United States, where he joined the military during the Vietnam War era. He was shot down over Vietnam and captured. Eventually he organized an escape with a small band of captives. Bale will play Dengler, and Zahn will play an ill-looking and bent POW.

My final complaint with Rescue Dawn is that it doesn't look like too much is going in to market the film. The official website for the film isn't even up to par. First we have the poorly formatted trailer and some other aspects, such as the synopsis, aren't even spelled out correctly. Eesh! Let's hope they can clean the marketing around the film up quickly.
