Sometimes to build awareness around a film you have to take the story in steps. Though many studios would just opt for some hardcore marketing, producers Daniel Alter and Howard Sun decided that an animated series and a comicbook would help get things rolling.
The Secret Drawer Society Production Begins
According to Variety, producers Daniel Alter and Howard Sun are ready to team up with Sharon Scott to bring her supernatural tale to the big screen. However, the production will require a lot more than a single script.
Instead of jumping directly into film, Alter and Sun are working to bring Sharon Scott's script, The Secret Drawer Society, into other media avenues. To begin, the two producers are working to develop Scott's script into a line of comicbooks plus an animated children's series.
Once awareness is gathered around The Secret Drawer Society, the development team plans to move forward with the live-action film. Now that is advanced production planning!
The Secret Drawer Society tells of a practice at East Coast inns of guests leaving behind letters -- often accounts of encounters with ghosts -- for future occupants to find. Scott's script follows two sisters and their friends seeking to unravel the mysteries surrounding a hidden treasure.
