Jon Stewart- Host of The Daily Show
This just may be the best piece of news we have heard all week. According to THR, the 78th Annual Academy Awards has picked up The Daily Show host, Jon Stewart, to also host the award show.
Jon Stewart has Oscars
My favorite two award shows to play during the year are the MTV Movie Awards (hilarious skits) and the Academy Awards. As both networks know, having the correct host can make or break an award show. Usually we can expect to see the performer
Billy Crystal to host the Oscars. However, after already hosting the show eight whopping times, Crystal declined the privilege for the 2006 show. After the announcement that Crystal would not take part as host (we will miss him once again), most had expected the Academy to turn to the standard backup hosts such as Whoopi Goldberg and Steve Martin. Sorry kids, Chris Rock was not even given the opportunity to come back and host the show.
So, after much deliberation, the Los Angeles Times was the first to announce that the Academy Awards had in fact found a host in Jon Stewart.
If you have any doubts about Jon Stewart do yourself a favor and begin watch The Daily Show on Comedy Central; hilarious! Stewart also has a bit of hosting experience by having host the Grammy Awards in 2001 and 2002.
Personally, I couldn't be more pleased with Jon Stewart being selected as host. 'Indecision' comes to the Oscars!
The 78th Annual Academy Awards will air on March 5th.
