Jerry Bruckheimer and Josh Lucas have recently sat down with one another in order to create the special Moviefone series 'Unscripted' for their upcoming film Glory Road. However, even though the questions were supposed to be about Glory Road, a lot of them were aimed directly at Bruckheimer himself.
Glory Road Video Interview
One of the first things that surprised me is how different Josh Lucas sounds in this interview; almost as if he is sporting a diminished accent. However, most the attention in the Unscripted video interview for Glory Road was aimed directly at Bruckheimer. One such question for Bruckheimer was not even for Glory Road but the original Pirates of the Caribbean. The person asked what dangers and risks were involved by having Johnny Depp play the classic role of Jack Sparrow. Bruckheimer admits that he loved the character from the beginning but it was Disney who had some major doubts.
Bruckheimer is also asked if he ever wants to direct a film. Now, there are tons of moviegoers that haven't realized that Bruckheimer is not a director but a producer. Sure, the guy may be a very hands on producer but he is still a producer. I guess we can consider Michael Bay as Bruckheimer in director form.
Glory Road tells the true story of the underdog Texas Western basketball team, with history's first all African American starting lineup of players, who took the country by storm, surprisingly winning the 1966 NCAA tournament title. Josh Lucas stars as Hall of Famer Don Haskins, the passionately dedicated college basketball coach that changed the history of basketball with his team's victory in this time of innocence.
