I have always been a big fan of parody films. The Hot Shots films, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, The History of the World, Not Another Teen Movie and Scary Movie are all part of a list that I love to watch. Sure, the films may not be all that good in general, but you have to appreciate the creativity and humor behind the parodies themselves.
Therefore, I am happy to see that the people who brought us Scary Movie have decided to take a different approach and have served up Date Movie. Following the same premise as Scary Movie-- make fun of just about every film in a certain genre --Date Movie seems to spare nobody in its quest for jokes.
Date Movie Stills
One of the thing's that has impressed me most about Date Movie is the film's resolve to have parodies of even the most recent films. The promo trailer for Date Movie was a direct parody of the sacrificial scene in King Kong; and it doesn't look like the films of 2005 stop their either.
The story of hopeless romantic Julia Jones, who has finally met the man of her dreams, the very British Grant Fonckyerdoder. But before they can have their Big Fat Greek Wedding, they'll have to Meet the Parents; hook-up with The Wedding Planner, and contend with Grant's friend Andy - a spectacularly beautiful woman who wants to put an end to her Best Friend's Wedding.
