In their 2006 preview the good people over at Universal Pictures released two of the first movie stills for the upcoming film Miami Vice. Starring Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell this Michael Mann film looks like an interesting mix between Collateral and Bad Boys II.

So far all of the promotions for Miami Vice have been wrapped around the two lead actors-- Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell. Not that this is a bad thing, but I am interested to see a bunch more scenes in action for the full trailer of the film. For the time being here are a couple of shots of Foxx and Farrell in Miami Vice.

Ricardo Tubbs (Academy Award® winner Jamie Foxx of Ray, Jarhead) is urbane and dead smart. He lives with Bronx-born intel analyst Trudy, played by British actress Naomie Harris (28 Days Later, upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean II and III), as they work undercover transporting drug loads into South Florida to identify a group responsible for three murders.
Sonny Crockett (Colin Farrell of S.W.A.T., The New World) [to the untrained eye, his presentation may seem unorthodox, but procedurally he is sound] is charismatic and flirtatious until—while undercover working with the supplier of the South Florida group—he gets romantically entangled with Isabella, the Chinese-Cuban wife of an arms and drugs trafficker. Isabella is played by the Chinese actress Gong Li (Raise the Red Lantern, Memoirs of a Geisha).
What do you guys think of Foxx and Farrell as a buddy-team for Miami Vice? Something that may take a little getting used to or a match made in Heaven? Maybe Universal is working to get moviegoers used to the idea of seeing the two actors together.
Miami Vice comes to theatres on July 28th, 2006.
