Check out a snippet of the review below:
Anyway, I have not yet read the comic, although I did recieve the trade paperback for Christmas. In addition, I did not, and do not like the Wachowski brothers, or any of their overhyped underwhelming sausage fest Matrix trilogy. Those films were garbage to me (nerd sacriledge) and I expected nothing more from this movie. Boy, what kind of a surprise was I in for, when I found myself actually enjoying this movie. I was genuinely surprised that it seemed so good to me. Now, before I continue to heap praise on this movie, let me just add the caveat that my opinion may have been affected by my level of fatigue when i saw it.
The Wachowskis were successful in many ways this time around. There was much ambiguity to the V character. The way V's story was told, they set you up to believe it could be a number of different people. Also, the satire in this movie is great. It is a total send up of American, and on some level, global society, and this climate of fear and powerlessness we live in today.
The review also claims that some moviegoers will see Vendetta as an action piece while most others will see the political commentary at the forefront. Make your own opinions by checking out the entire review for V for Vendetta over at Fi-Sci.
V for Vendetta will be released to theatres on March 17th, 2006.
