Scary Thought: I was born right around when this picture was taken for Magnum P.I. (1981).
Watching the developments on the Magnum P.I. film is like trying to watch a stealth fighter on radar. Every once in a while you may get a quick little blip, but then the target immediately disappears for sometime.
So, here is the latest little blip on the current status of Magnum P.I..
Magnum P.I. Movie Talk
With all the big projects producer Brian Grazer has got going we figured Magnum P.I. would soon disappear from his long to-do list. However, it looks as if the project has finally taken a couple of baby-steps since the project hit the coffee table a few years back.
According to Clint Morris over at MovieHole, Rawson Marshall Thurber, writer of Dodgeball : A True Underdog Story, has been picked up to write a screenplay for a big-screen version of Magnum P.I.. And, better yet, it looks like Tom
Selleck is still very much an option.
The film, which Brian Grazer and Imagine Entertainment will produce, has been on the cards for a few years now. Apparently the plan is for original star – I gotta say, I won’t believe it until I see it though – Tom Selleck to don the Hawaiian shirt again for the movie.
Still, producer Brian Grazer remains as tight-lipped as a kid who has just eaten his sisters chocolate bar. "I like Tom a lot but we really aren't in that decision process yet," Grazer said recently, adding that George Clooney is someone they’ve also considered.
Another Magnum P.I.? The idea sounds promising but I do admit that having Rawson Thurber write the script is an interesting choice. Let's just hope he leaves out the pirate this time.
