I actually met actor Chris Penn once. During a visit to an agency in Santa Monica I encountered the actor as he stood right next to where I sat. In a quick move I said 'Hey, Best of the Best' and got a quick smile from the guy. And that is where my personal story ends.
If I were to tell this story to friends I would probably be greeted with silence until I answer myself with something like, 'Good story Ryan.'
Unfortunately, today the story on Chris Penn is not humorous but rather one that is shocking and sad. According to reports, Penn collapsed and died in his Santa Monica condominium today (Tuesday the 24th).
We Will Miss Chris Penn
According to Associated Press, Actor Chris Penn, brother of Sean Penn, was found dead Tuesday at a condominium near the beach in Santa Monica, police said.
Police said they discovered the 40-year-old actor's body around 4 p.m. Lt. Frank Fabrega said there were no obvious signs of foul play.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, authorities said.
Chris Penn's credits included Mulholland Falls, Rumble Fish, All the Right Moves, Footloose and Rush Hour. He also played Nice Guy Eddie Cabot in the 1992 Quentin Tarantino crime drama Reservoir Dogs.
Fans of Chris Penn will have their own favorite films and memories of the actor. Some of my favorites that come to mind are Penn as the hard-punching fighter in Best of the Best and getting farted on by Corky in the comedy Corky Romano.
We wish all the best to brother Sean Penn and the extended Penn family.
