11th Annual Moviefone Moviegoer Awards
We have recently been alerted to the nominees for the upcoming 11th Annual Moviefone Moviegoer Awards. One cool thing about these awards is that the winners are decided by the moviegoers-- the people who actually pay full admission price --and the nominees are usually the coolest of choices rather than the best; which is refreshing.
Below are the nominees for each category with our own prediction on who could take it.
Moviefone Moviegoer Awards Nominees
The Nominees for MOVIE OF THE YEAR are:
HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE
STAR WARS: EPISODE III – REVENGE OF THE SITH
CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
KING KONG
THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN
Talk about a tough bracket! This one is so close that I am almost afraid to guess. In a process of elimination let's remove 40 Year-Old Virgin and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I would have personally rather have seen Wedding Crashers up in this bracket than Virgin, but I guess that is the way these things work.
Even though King Kong was epic, Goblet of Fire and Sith both have a ginormous fanbase that will push them to the top. Toss up!
The Nominees for ACTOR OF THE YEAR are:
Daniel Radcliffe, HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE
Johnny Depp, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
Joaquin Phoenix, WALK THE LINE
Hayden Christensen, STAR WARS: EPISODE III – REVENGE OF THE SITH
Heath Ledger, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN
If this was a real award show we could expect Ledger (the guy has gay love!) or Phoenix for their incredible roles. However, the moviegoers are most likely going to go with Depp.
The Nominees for ACTRESS OF THE YEAR are:
Emma Watson, HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE
Reese Witherspoon, WALK THE LINE
Keira Knightley, PRIDE & PREJUDICE
Dakota Fanning, WAR OF THE WORLDS
Naomi Watts, KING KONG
Another incredibly tough bracket. Dakota Fanning stole the show from Tom Cruise in War of the Worlds and Reese Witherspoon nailed her role in Walk the Line. However, Naomi Watts
made moviegoers cry over a CG gorilla; and that is something worth celebrating.
The Nominees for BIGGEST BADASS are:
Ewan McGregor, STAR WARS: EPISODE III – REVENGE OF THE SITH
Angelina Jolie, MR. & MRS. SMITH
Christian Bale, BATMAN BEGINS
Orlando Bloom, KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
Brad Pitt, MR. & MRS. SMITH
Put these nominees in a hat, shake, and tell me which one you pull out. I would have liked to see Samuel L Jackson up here for his role as Mace Windu (he would have defeated the emperor!) in Sith but McGregor was pretty sweet too.
The Nominees for MOST HYSTERICAL PERFORMANCE are:
Vince Vaughn, WEDDING CRASHERS
Steve Carell, THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN
Jim Carrey, FUN WITH DICK AND JANE
Owen Wilson, WEDDING CRASHERS
Ralph Fiennes, WALLACE & GROMIT IN THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT
Without a doubt the award goes to Vince Vaughn for his performance in Wedding Crashers. The guy is hilarious!
The Nominees for VILEST VILLAIN are:
Ralph Fiennes, HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE
Hayden Christensen, STAR WARS: EPISODE III – REVENGE OF THE SITH
Tilda Swinton, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE
Ian McDiarmid, STAR WARS: EPISODE III – REVENGE OF THE SITH
Elijah Wood, SIN CITY
Iam McDiarmid's performance in all five Star Wars films was far beyond par and his acting skills helped carry Revenge of the Sith.
The Nominees for BEST SCENE STEALER are:
Brendan Gleeson, HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE
Vince Vaughn, MR. & MRS. SMITH
Will Ferrell, WEDDING CRASHERS
Cillian Murphy, BATMAN BEGINS
Michelle Williams, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN
Why not hand another one to Vince Vaughn. Using his catch phrase, "I like where your head's at," the guy made the audience chuckle every time he was on screen.
