I like to think of Harrison Ford as a guy who knows how to pick solid films. After being Han Solo the guy quickly become Indiana and after that Ford has appeared in tons of solid films; how about the Jack Ryan series as a little bonus?
However, even the best actors are known to have a few duds and misses here and there and the first early review for Firewall claims this could be one of them.
Firewall Review
The good people over at AICN have posted the first movie poster for the upcoming film Firewall starring Harrison Ford, Paul Bettany and Virginia Madsen.
They showed Firewall last Monday here in Boston and I noticed that you hadn't run a review of it yet. Maybe that's because just taking in the trailer, the poster, the taglines and the February release date is enough to let anyone know that Firewall goes hand-in-hand with mediocrity. That's certainly what I expected as a I sat down to watch it and might not even have done that if the theater hadn't promised a Q&A with Harrison Ford after the film.
I wish I could say that the film somehow didn't disappoint. I wish I could say that there was something original and intelligent about the script. Most of all, I wish I could say that at least Harrison Ford, my favorite actor since childhood, was good in it.
But I honestly can't think of a single good thing to say about Firewall.
Now that I have come to think about it maybe Harrison Ford does have more than a few films that we couldn't call 'great.' Ok, maybe some were downright bad, but it still hurts to see an early review pop up like this for both the actor and the film.
