Aquamarine
When I first heard of the upcoming teenie-bopper Aquamarine the first thing I thought was that I am definitely not seeing it. However, that doesn't mean that this film isn't going to bring in the box office numbers thanks to teen girls and families desperate for a new family film.
Aquamarine Trailer
Beginning with a Little Mermaid formula, we encounter a mermaid, Aquamarine, who comes to land in order to prove to her Mer-man father that true love does exist.
Bla, bla, bla. The trailer kicks in and immediately goes for its target audience with young teen girls who might obsessively giggle at the girl-meets-guy scenario.
Here is the real synopsis for Aquamarine below:
Following a violent storm, a beautiful and sassy mermaid named Aquamarine washes ashore and into the lives of two best friends about to be parted at summer's end. When Aquamarine falls for a local, hunky lifeguard, she enlist the girls' help to win his heart and in exchange offers to grant the girls one wish.
The fact that they use the word 'hunky' in the synopsis is further proof of the target demographic Aquamarine was made for.
Aquamarine is based on the popular book by distinguished author Alice Hoffman.
