Paul Bettany is going to be a busy and popular guy this year with two films coming our way. Bettany's first title, Firewall, for 2006 has the actor co-starring with Harrison Ford in a film that mixes thriller with technology.
Though having Harrison Ford on your roster is enough to get the film some added hype, Bettany also has a role in what some are beginning to claim is the most anticipated film for 2006-- The Da Vinci Code.
With this increased popularity it was only a matter of time before he, like many other 'new' names, would become subject to high-profile casting rumors such as the next villain for the sequel to Batman Begins.
Paul Bettany is Joker?
A wild rumor began to circulate the net and tabloids that claimed Paul Bettany had been contacted to play the role of the Joker for the sequel to Batman Begins. Like Josh Lucas, who was said to have been contacted to play the role of Two Face, the actor had to hear of the rumor from a friend.
LatinoReview recently caught up with Bettany and got him to briefly discuss whether there was any validity to the rumor.
I had a chance to talk to Paul Bettany about those rumors of him being up for the role of the Joker in which he said “Yeah I heard nothing about it except through people saying ‘Are you in the Batman sequel? Am I?' No ones called me.”
LatinoReview then asked Bettany the possibility of him taking the role of the Joker if he were asked to do it. Bettany's answer was safe... but to hear it you have to head on over to LatinoReview.
